Tell me about what you write
First, I would like to say thanks to Courtney for this opportunity. My name is Christopher (Chris) Flory and I write Crime fiction. My MC’s name is Paul Dodge and he is a parole agent who tends to find himself getting caught up in murder cases with a local police detective (Renquest). My books are fast paced and dark, as murder usually is.
Tell me about your latest release or what you have coming soon
My newest book is Trust Betrayed: a Paul Dodge novel and it released February 1, 2025. This is the fourth in the Paul Dodge series and the first to be self-published. In this installment, Dodge finds himself in Dallas, TX looking into the death of a family member for an old Air Force buddy. He soon realizes it’s more than a simple murder as the conspiracy grows and finds himself betrayed, alone and on the run from a murder he didn’t commit. With no one to turn to for help, Dodge must navigate an unfamiliar city and local police to find justice for the victim and clear his name.
(I read it and loved it, here’s my review)
How long have you been writing and what inspired you to start?
I started writing at an early age. Mainly stories I made up in my head, but never shared. These stories play like a movie in my head non-stop. It was quite distracting as an adult, so I decided to write them down.
What has been the most difficult part of writing or publishing for you so far?
This one is simple. Querying for an agent. The constant disappointment and rejection led me to be an indie author and eventually a self-published writer.
What is your writing and editing process like?
I love being a Pantser! I just write as the scenes play out in my head. Editing is started when the story is finished, which I make 2-3 rounds of before sending to a professional editor. I try not to get bogged down in editing as I’m deep in the creative process.
What advice would you give to your younger self about writing?
Don’t stop writing. Ever! Get all the ideas on paper, because even bad writing is good for your mind and can be learned from.
What are your go to writing snacks?
I’m weird, lol. I don’t eat much when I write. But if I did, it would be sweet and salty!
What are your favorite types of books to read and do you have an all-time favorite author or book?
I mainly read crime fiction and thrillers. Michael Connelly and John Sandford are two of my favorites. I also enjoy Sarah Pearse and I own all of your books as well!

Where can readers find you and your books?
I am on all platforms.
Amazon and Barnes & Noble
Is there anything else you’d like to share with my newsletter audience?
I’ll ask what all writers as for. After reading a book, please leave a review. It means so much to authors when a reader lets them know how much they enjoyed their work. Reviews are our lifeblood.
Thank you for your time and keep writing!
